Isla June is growing so fast and I'm just not ready for all of it. Secretly, I'm happy that she isn't rolling over (consistently) just yet because I'm getting to enjoy this stage for a little bit longer. But, alas, some things must come to an end. Around 4 months, it's said (by the experts I presume) that you should begin to faze out the swaddle. Now, let me say that the swaddle has been a god-send for us. She wasn't really so into it in the beginning, but it was the only way to get her to sleep more than 20 min at a time. And I've tried to get rid of it in some attempts (mostly out of laziness) when she falls asleep and I put her in the crib without it, but she always woke herself up, so I just stopped trying. But, now that she's not expertly rolling over yet, I'm getting a little worried that the swaddle may have a little something to do with it (am I grasping here?) So, I've attempted to stop the swaddle, but you know what? She wakes up! Not like when she was little, but I noticed that the naps weren't as long, and there were more wakings at night. So now, I'm attempting the one arm-light swaddle (a lah the statue of liberty). So, she can get her hands out, move around, but still has some of that "pressure" that she needs. I'm hoping that this can be a gradual, lose swaddling until she doesn't need it anymore. But, with the cold weather here, I've got to wrap her anyways. We'll see.
