14 months

We love books

And it's flying!  I kind of dread these posts because I always feel like I am forgetting something....but, here goes...

Isla June can sort 4 shapes (triangle, circle, square, star) and is very good at stacking blocks and hammering pegs. She attempts to scribble and holds her writing utensil in her right hand (sorry mom).  She loves to talk on the phone (even if it is the remote).  She pretty much knows what to do with everyday objects (brushes to brush your hair, belts go around your waist, dog leashes go on the dog, scrubs herself with the sponge in the tub, etc.)  She loves to help me "cook" in the kitchen.  She can do the motions with you if you sing happy and you know it (clap hands, stomp feet, shout hooray).  Her speech is coming along, she will repeat some words, but will mostly only do this once or twice and then I won't hear it again (things I've heard: stick, Jesus, hooray).  Her favorite word is still dada.  She'll attempt a conversation with me, and her facial expressions tell me that she's saying something extremely important- but I have no idea what it is.

"I can brush my own hair, see?"
She Signs- more, milk, all done, dog independently. help, eat and blue with prompts. When you ask her, "Where's Isla?" she smiles and pats her chest.  She consistently shakes her head yes and no in response to a question.
Something I have been forgetting to mention over the past few months- pushing shopping carts- we discovered this when we lived back in High Point, and she still loves it.
She's learned how to jump off the edge of the pool into your arms- loves it.

silly girl
Isla June now has 5 teeth- a new back molar- with 2 more on the way(incisors), so brushing our teeth is a requirement- does not loves it.
We're down to one nap most days-momma does not loves it.
Some of her favorite things:
Food: spaghetti, chicken, broccoli, fruit (strawberries, blueberries, mandarin oranges, grapes)
Books: all ,but specifically ones that talk or have flaps
Activities: swinging, hammering, swimming, digging in the sand

Such a big girl....my baby is not a baby anymore

cookies make sitting still easier....

I should mention these are organic cookies...with less than .5 grams sugar per serving

she still has looooong legs.

Yay cookies!

We're also working on using a fork....did I mention she is a BIG girl?!?!?

  1. What a cutie! I love these monthly updates - shows me what I have to look forward too with Abraham!

PS - did you turn that green photo fabric into a pillow and chair?!

  2. Hi Vickie! Yes, they grow so fast. I can't believe Abraham is almost one!
The fabric actually started as a pillow and a crib skirt....then the remnents became a reupholstered chair. And THEN I started doing the fabric as part of her monthly pictures. I guess I kindof love the fabric...a lot. Thanks for reading along!

  3. OMG. I love this shoot SO much. I miss her!!!!!!

  4. And I love the new header picture....
