Look what we got

Can you tell what it is?...

Let's get a little closer in case you're still wondering

(Yep, it's a picture of a potty chair)

After talking with my sister-in-law, Tanya and another mother at the library, I kind of felt compelled to get a potty chair (and this one came reccomended).  Even though I have potty trained many a children in my teaching career, I guess this just kind of snuck up on me.  I mean, I was hoping I wouldn't have to do this until she was like 5 (I kid, I kid).
But, for right now, we're just hanging out with it.
Learning the words "Potty!" "Poop!" and "Peepee!" (is this too much information??? sorry)
She sits on it before bath every night, and that's about it for right now.  We want this to be as positive an experience as possible-no pressure.  I definitely don't think she's ready just yet, but we're taking baby steps.

She seems to really like it...

Because she knows that it is hers.
Even if she doesn't really know what to do with it yet...

Any advice will be greatly appreciated.  Wish us luck.

  1. She is sooo cute!

The only advice I would give is to do what you already said and make it a "fun" experience. We never pushed Liz and did as you are and just exposed her to it, but never pressured her into going if she didn't want too. She was completely potty trained by 2!

  2. I like how she shuts the door to the bathroom.

  3. In my experience, if she starts showing interest go with it! Even if you're not sure she's ready or you're not ready, make the effort! I missed the opp. with Annalise and waited until she was older. By then, she was all about doing what SHE wanted to do and potty training wasn't on the list! It was a struggle. I wish I had worked with her 6 months earlier when she seemed more agreeable.

  4. Thanks for the tips, ladies! And, yes, she insits on shutting the door whenever she is on the potty. I'm sure the next word she learns will be "privacy"

I love your comments!
