a little bit late of a recap on Memorial Day

Over Memorial Day, we were beyond excited to host some of Jeremy's college fraternity brother's and their families.  There's just something wonderful about people who have been friends for 12 years.  They become family.  Some of these people we haven't see in over 2 years.  And that's just way too long for me.  Plus, we had two new little people to meet...

Sweet Baby Sam and Carter sleeping on the beach.  Oh babies and their ability to sleep anywhere.
After a quick Mexican dinner out on Friday night to hug, laugh and feed our stomachs (and I didn't manage to get a single picture), we met on the beach the next morning.  It was the most perfect weather.  Not too hot with a light breeze.
Toddlers digging in the sand, babies sleeping in the tent and parents enjoying the sun and maybe a few beverages.  You really can't beat it.

Isla June and her daddy spent most of their time in the water.  of course.

Mommy's lounger looked quite comfortable, too.

I decided to take this opportunity for family picture time.  As a mother myself, I know how difficult these moments can be to capture, so I was trying to help out the other mommy's.

Uncle Carson (Isla June's Godfather), Auntie Natalie and Hayden
 and here's our family photo......

great, right?  Let's say it all together, I need a new camera.   Seriously, I'm missing precious family memories here.  This could have been a wonderful picture.  I mean, we were all looking at the camera!  ok, moving on.

That night, we all bombarded Uncle Mitch and Lana's house for some good ole' fashioned crab eating.  Of course, we had to introduce Isla June to the crab's.  I hate to miss opportunities like this.

She was in no way frightened by that crab.  Hayden was not so sure of it.  But, Isla June thought it was nothing to get excited about (much to my dismay).  She actually requested that I chase her around the house while holding a whole cooked crab.  over and over again.  She's nuts.

I loved seeing these two playing blocks together.
And this little man was the cuddliest fellow.  We definitely threw him off his routine.  But, he was such a sweet boy about all the craziness.  Being 4 months old is hard.

Mitch hosted a round table of women in the art of taking apart a whole crab for ingesting purposes.  It was definitely more intensive than I thought.

While I was eating, Isla June and Jeremy were wrestling.  of course.

The next day, after a giant breakfast of pancakes, eggs and sausage cooked by yours truly, we headed over to the pool.  Again, a beautiful day.  We were so fortunate.

Daddies and their babies

We spent that night having an adult only night out at dinner.  Of all places, we went to Dick's (not by my doing).  Despite my reservations about a place where you pay them to be rude to you,  it turned out to be quite a fun time.  I guess that's what happens when you have tons of great friends around you.

The women spent most of the night talking about breast feeding, husbands and business ideas. Not so sure about the husbands discussions... I wasn't a part of that.

So grateful for this weekend with our friends.  The best part?  We've all vowed to make it a yearly tradition.

Ok, the other best part was this....

Isla June's sweet, sweet love for baby Sam.  It was the most wonderful thing to see.   All of my prayers for Isla June to have love in her heart, well, they've been answered.  She was beyond kind to this little guy.
Maybe it is time for another little Jenks.

Thank you to our dear friends for making the trek!  We miss you already and can't wait for next year!
