Get Your Rock On

I struggled a really long time trying to find just the right chair for the nursery.  I knew I wanted something that rocked or glided, but I definitely didn't want the typical nursery glider from the big baby store, I wanted something different.  But, different is expensive.  Plus, I wanted something organic, or at least secondhand to help prevent bringing more toxins into the room.
This was an antique chair given to me by my mother (and I think she got it from her mother). It was in our house while I was growing up and I always loved it. In it's original state, this rocker was not looking so good. It had been living in our attic for almost 2 yrs. I just wasn't sure what to do with it, and to be honest, I had kind of forgotten about it.

Ta-da!
The new and improved rocker for Baby Jenks nursery. I love that I can use something that was my mom's in the nursery, and I love that I am reusing old things instead of buying new!

We found a local guy who does reupholstery (living in the furniture capital of the world has it's perks), and he was able to get this whole thing done (even the back has exposed material) for only $150.00.  I was pleased.
Both Jeremy and I are so happy with how it turned out. I hope Baby Jenks likes it too.

  2. This looks gorgeous - and I'm so glad you didn't paint it! I have a rocker just like this that came from my great, great grandfather! Do you know anything about its origin - i.e. where it was made, by whom, etc.?

    1. Hi Phoenix! Unfortunately, I dont know anything about the chair. I think it was picked up from a thrift store by my mother or grandmother, so we don't know the original origin. Too bad because it's become a family keepsake!
      Thank you for stopping by!
