We LOVE books around here. And thanks to Isla June's Nana, we have found and author we adore (along with the staples- Eric Carle, Dr. Seuss)
On the Night you were Born was the first book we recieved by Nancy Tillman. The pictures, the words...oh my. I fell in love immediately. I would read this to Isla June everynight after bath and she loved the cadence of the words, "Heaven blew every trumpet and played every horn on the wonderful, marvelous night you were born". I mean, how beautiful is that?!?
For Valentine's day, Nana sent IJJ Whever you are, my Love will Find you, and it soon became our favorite. This one was part of our bathtime ritual. If Isla June ever starts to fuss in the tub, I say this book to her and it will calm her down. My favotite part- "...to the sound crickets make at the end of the day, You are Loved, You are Loved, You are Loved they all say". I melt.
I picked up It's time to sleep my Love at the local TJMaxx after my obsession with Nancy Tillman was solidified. We now read this everynight before bed and I repeat it to her before naps (I've got it memorized-who am I kidding, I've got them all memorized).
I know that these books, and their special message will grow to be a favorite memory of Isla June's. They are already a favorite of mine.
