A couple of years ago, I discovered that my favorite shampoo was actually bad for me. No matter if I spent 2 dollars or 20, the ingredients weren't something that I should be exposing to my body.
There are a lot of toxins in these products, but the one that was most disturbing to me was the Parabens. Parabens are in just about every body care product out there, it's scary stuff
and, "the EPA has linked methyl parabens in particular to metabolic, developmental, hormonal, and neurological disorders, as well as various cancers." yikes! Definitely not something I want.
(see more information on specific toxins here)
So, we cleaned up our morning shower routine. Even the hubs was on board.

Also, I have not been compensated by any company to promote these products; we just like them.
We use Avalon Organics Shampoo and Conditioner and Dr. Bronner's Peppermint body wash (which I totally recommend). The other bottle is Tea tree oil wash. Tea tree oil is a natural antiseptic.
